The Story of a Giraffe, a Lion and a Steve

A giraffe and a lion were hanging out one day drinking beers while the writer was anthropomorphising his protagonists.

The giraffe turned to the lion and said “Hey Lion, d’you know Steve?” 

Which Steve? Lion replied.

You know, Steve. That really mellow, cool guy. Lives by the river. He’s always picking strawberries and collecting firewood by the river. Said the Giraffe.

Nah…I know no such Steve. I know a Steve that lives by the river who’s always screaming and running away leaving piles of strawberries by the fire. Said the Lion.

The Moral of the Story 

We experience the world as a reflection of who we are. So who do you want to be. A lion or a giraffe?

Sorry. The role of the writer has already been taken.

      Back at ya Tiger :-) @BruceSallan It’s just a little story about the world being a reflection of who we are. For you see, said the storyteller who didnt get his point across (lol), They both knew the same Steve, but giraffe and the lion experienced Steve in different ways because giraffe and lion move through this world in different ways.

      Hows that?

    I don’t know which way to go with this one Dino. In terms of character, seems like the Giraffe is the happier of the two. But if I’m in a jungle, I think I’d rather be the Lion :) .

    Oh wait…the don’t live in a jungle do they? Would be pretty sweet to be the king of the jungle and not even live in it.

    I choose Lion!

      @EugeneFarber In psychology, we call it the illusion of choice. Like when people think they have a choice of who they vote for. Democrats or republicans. It’s a classic mistake my friend. I gave you the appearance of choice. And you choose what was presented.

      Why not go with the third option? Why not be Steve? Or someone who’s not in the story at all? #JstSayin :-)

      You too, huh? :-) @AmmarFaruki I liberally pilfered this parable from Louis CK’s (the comedian) unfinished joke and Im pretty sure he used the name Steve in his joke as well.

      The joke is way older than Jobs’ passing, but it’s a funny coincidence none the less.

      I knew some might see it as an article about Jobs (if looking at the title only) but I felt no need to change it…figured I’d stay loyal to the original sentiment on this one :-)
