How To Download and Test ANY Premium WordPress Theme For FREE

STOP!!! Don’t continue until you’ve sufficiently protected yourself against the follies of the Interwebs.

I’m about to send you swimming amongst the sharks and piranhas. Only those protected with a Steel Armor will survive.

I just gave you that link twice. Proceed at your own peril without sufficient protection.

BIG ASS DISCLAIMER: The info in this post is designed to help you make a better choice regarding your WordPress theme by testing premium themes on an offline sandbox before you purchase the best theme that works for you.
ANOTHER BIG ASS DISCLAIMER: The process I will be showing you will allow you to download not only premium WordPress themes, but also, music, movies, premium channel TV shows, e-books, audio books, applications and so on. Some of this material is protected under the Copyright law. While I abhor Copyright, I CAN NOT take responsibility for what you do with this information and whatever consequences stem from it. And now, having said that…

In order to download premium WordPress themes, we will tap into the power of the Bit Torrent. Here is how.

Welcome To The Desert Of The Real

What is Bit Torrent?

Bit Torrent is basically Napster on steroids jacked into adrenaline power grid running on methamphetamines.

Here is the definition from the horse’s mouth:

BitTorrent is the global standard for delivering high-quality files over the Internet. With an installed base of over 160 million clients worldwide, BitTorrent technology has turned conventional distribution economics on its head. The more popular a large video, audio or software file, the faster and cheaper it can be transferred with BitTorrent. The result is a better digital entertainment experience for everyone. Read more.

To tap into the power of Bit Torrent, you will need a client component first. I recommend you download uTorrent. (see video for additional guidance)

Once installed, you can move to step No 2. Torrent Websites

There are many torrent sites out there but I recommend these 3 and in this order.

  1. The Pirate Bay
  2. Demonoid
  3. ISO Hunt

How To Use These Sites?

If you’ve ever used goggle search than using these sites will be just as easy, however…

YOU MUST tap into the collective wisdom of torrent users.

Torrent is a very popular method of distributing garbage, viruses, Trojans and all manner of other nastiness. Hence the warning at the head of this post. So…

Use the wisdom of other users to screen for the efficacy of the download. How?  By sorting the results based on the number of SE/LEs. (see video)

SE=Seeders: A seeder is a peer that has an entire copy of the torrent and offers it for upload. The more seeders there are, the better the chances of getting a higher download speed. If the seeder seeds the whole copy of the download, they should get faster downloads. Source Wikipedia
LE=Leechers: A peer that does not have 100% of the data. Source Wikipedia

Large numbers of Seeders/Leechers usually indicates that the file has passed the inspection of many other Torrent users, er go, is probably ok for download.

Most Torrent sites allow you to sort by SE/LEs. Use it.

Be patient. If you don’t find what you’re looking for on one torrent site, try another and then another.

The Trickiness of Torrent Comment System

Comments are a great way to determine if the desired theme/movie/TV Show/audio book/app is in fact kosher.

If most people say the file is A OK, the chances are, the file is A OK. Conversely, if most people say the file is fake…well, you get the idea.

However, sometimes the Copyright holders will employ shills to leave fake comments saying the file contains a virus when it does not (this happens a lot with new movie releases.)

Another great way to verify the validity of the file is to check the Uploader.

Every Torrent will have the username of the Uploader. Click on the Uploader’s username to see other files uploaded by that user and comments affiliated with those other uploads. Also, the length of time on the torrent site (longer the tenure the more credibility) and look for the skull (skull = trusted in Pirate nomenclature)

Some Torrent sites will have a green or red skull next to the name of the Uploader. This is a good sign. These are old pirates with great track records.

Once You Download Your File…

Once you click to download a file, your Bit Torrent client (in our example, this would be uTorrent) will open and start downloading. Wait for it to finish and you will be able to open the file once download completes.

In order to fully test your newly acquired theme, you will need a locally installed WordPress server.

This video will show you how easy it is to do all this. Watch now.

Totally Serbian/Bosnian way of handling stuff online. I don’t even need to say that I am so crippled here in USA, doing all things legally, lol.

Yup this is a great idea and a way to watch all the new movies even before they are out in cinemas :) Not to mention getting all those expensive softwares you need but can’t afford.

Awesome, Dino, I see that AZ trip is doing you good :)

      hehe..thnx :-)

There are of course ways in which we can protect ourselves. From pilfering free wireless to plausible deniability to bypassing “hot” items on the list…I do think that this is too much power for some people but you got to start somewhere….

Also, Since 2009, the douchebags from RIAAAAAaaa (whatever the fuck they’re called) have stopped prosecuting individuals because the only “people” benefiting from it were lawyers.

That is good to know. I think Zvezde Granda are publishing some new music :P

And of course any time Karleusa publishes something, I like to have it first.

P.S. Serious about her actually :)

Thanks for sharing. When it comes to my themes, I go to the professionals – that’s the one big blogging expense (besides my photography equipment, which I need, I swear) that I allow myself.

I’m impressed with everyone who has taken control of their branding and taken the time to learn how to manage, update, and change their sites. I find that I don’t have the patience, even though I swear that I’m taking my time. I always miss a step and it blows up on me. I’ll admit it – photography, I can do blind folded (not really), updating my theme makes me jittery.

Thanks for sharing this. My mind is bouncing thinking of all the people who are going to get a kick out of this!

Hey Kim…I do tend to see the world through more technically colored lens (hehe…see how I worked that in there?) But I promise you, anyone can use the underlying technology to download the themes or whatever else they want…so I encourage you to play with it, explore it, have fun with it…I promise you will be addicted.

Also, there are tons of photo classes you can download using bit torrent ….

    Dino,
I have long been avoiding using torrents mainly because of viruses. I also have no idea how to use them :)
This will come in handy knowing that I can trust your information.
    Thanks

Torrents are a breeding ground for all sorts of nastiness. However, knowing little bit about it can actually make it quite easy to navigate. Mainly, taping into the collective wisdom of torrent users (via comments and SE’s/LEs)

Dino, aloha. Will keep this for when I want to take a walk on the wild side. It sounds like crossing a field of land mines with a road map. Actually, I think I would rather read about your and Brankica’s adventures. Aloha. Janet

    Hey Dino,

Well this post definitely got my attention mainly because I would really like to try out some premium themes. Especially since I’m now helping others get their first blog up and running. This way I could actually recommend a theme that I know is user friendly. But, these sites have always made me nervous. If we follow along with your recommendations, I can see where we might be able to understand what NOT to venture into.

Thanks for this informative post and all the scoop you’ve shared with us. So very helpful my friend.

Hey Adrienne…I knew there would be people out there who appreciate what torrent can do for them.

I would only warn that some themes are slightly out of date. Which simply means that when you decide to purchase them for real, they will be even better. Win/Win :-)

thanks a lot))) i thought that it is impossible to do that and do that for free. reently i thought about it a lot and this post is so on time and useful for me that i even dont know how many thanks to say to you)))

You can also take a shot at http://www.free-premium-wordpress-themes.com/ which allows you to download premium themes and they have a big collection. Because the developer has to remove the original links though the footer of the templates can often become a bit messed up, it’s a good source for trying out a possible theme though, before hand.

     Hey Dino,

You’re the first blogger I’ve seen post anything about getting proprietary stuff for free on the ‘interwebs’ !

Nobody talks about it yet many marketers know about it (I wonder why lol…)

Having stumbled into this post built instant trust for me, good job and you have great info on this site.

I’m checking everything I can, maybe I can find some videos of your music as well? ;-)
